This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and proactive Financial Controller to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and professional consulting firm as a management accountant and consultant.

Working in a team of professionals (including CA & CPA qualified accountants) as well as investment professionals, with a diverse client base (both local and global), the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated to succeed. The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of a number of different clients within the portfolio, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with clients including startup businesses and founders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.

The key tasks and responsibilities for the role include:

• Manage and review the accounting and finance operations of the clients, including profit and loss preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting and month end procedures.

• This suite of tasks is supported by a team of accountants offshore, which the Financial Controller is responsible for oversight, training and coaching.

• Prepare monthly management accounts.

• Prepare and maintain budgets.

• Prepare, present and provide options to optimise cashflow for the client.

• Analyse financial data and provide insights to the client where required.

• Oversee the preparation of documentation for tax lodgements.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the accurate and timely flow of information.

• Manage the client’s cash flow and ensure that all financial obligations are met in a timely manner.

• Monitor and control expenses to ensure they are within budgeted levels.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

• Analyse information to identify problems and probable causes.

  Competencies and experience required:

• B. Com (Accounting, Finance or relevant field)

• Chartered Accountant/Certified Public Accountant (CA/CPA) designation preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance (a consulting environment is preferable)

• Knowledge of cloud-based accounting softwares (MYOB and XERO are preferable)

• Excel Intermediate to Advanced User

• Other reporting software’s advantageous

• Strong verbal and written communication skills (essential)

• Excellent organisation and task management skills

• Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills

• Conscientious and hard-working, with the ability to work towards deadlines

• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking desired
